Lincoln Grade School
Current Conditions

Lincoln Grade School, originally built in 1949, faces a wide range of challenges that make it increasingly difficult to provide a safe and effective learning environment. From aging infrastructure—featuring original plumbing, steam heating in parts of the building, and asbestos tiling—to rising operational costs from outdated systems and poor insulation, the building struggles to meet modern efficiency and safety standards. Accessibility is also limited; with only one ramp for ADA compliance, navigating the narrow hallways and cramped classrooms is a challenge. These issues underscore the urgent need for a new, 21st-century facility that supports both the wellbeing of students and a high-quality educational experience.

Look Back At 24 Month Maintenance Cost

Since the beginning of the 2022–2023 fiscal year, District 52 has spent $282,375 on HVAC, roof and, door repairs alone at Lincoln Grade School. Maintaining these aging systems will continue to be expensive, and we believe such funds would be better invested in a new, modern facility that provides an optimal environment for student achievement.

Moreover, as ongoing maintenance demands grow over time, they place a greater strain on district resources and limit our ability to invest in the educational programs that benefit our students and teachers most.
